Speed the Light & BGMC Missions Giving Update

There is so much excitement at the District Office in January as daily reports of missions giving from 2022 come in. Every day the totals climbed, and the initial reports indicated record years for Speed the Light and BGMC missions giving.

BGMC (Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge) is vital to supporting our missionaries and keeping them on the field. Kids in Minnesota understand this vision and gave $493,000 to BGMC in 2022! This new total beats the previous record by $95,914! KidMin Director, Chris Pruett, said, “Kids are praying, planning, and doing new things to raise money for the critical needs of our missionaries. Because of what Jesus has done for them, our kids are demonstrating sincere compassion and generosity. They want to share Jesus with the world. Myself and children’s pastors/leaders around the state rejoice at what God is doing and are so proud of our kids.”

Speed the Light (STL) giving makes missions possible for many missionaries and organizations. It provides AGWM missionaries with transportation and equipment to communicate the gospel. It helps Live|Dead plant churches in unreached people groups. It allows Free International and Project Rescue to fight human trafficking. These organizations, along with Project 42, WorldServe International, Convoy of Hope, Global University, and Venture, partner with STL to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

STL giving from Minnesota students ended at $2,621,150. Eight churches gave over $100,000, led by River Valley Church with $544,627.

It was an amazing year for MN churches like Willmar AG ($242,844), River of Life Church in Cold Spring ($192,618), The Waters Church in Sartell ($160,640), Bethel’s Rock in Richfield ($150,704), and ZOE Church in Burnsville ($107,592), to name a few. Kirby St. John celebrated the reports saying, “It really is amazing. This is the number one district not just in the nation, but this is the number one district in the world when it comes to student giving.”
