Sisterhood Leadership Retreat | Angie Goetz
On a beautiful winter weekend in mid-February, over 300 women gathered for Bridging the Gap’s annual Sisterhood Leadership Retreat at Lake Geneva Christian Center in Alexandria. Women attended from all over MN, as well as from GA and FL. What a powerful weekend with national speaker Alli Worthington and worship led by Ben Snyder and the Waters Worship team. There were ten available workshops ranging in topics from Leading as an Introvert/Extrovert, Networking in Your Community, or Becoming an Unoffendable Leader.
Our emcees, Melissa Oler and Amber Gerstmann, kicked off the retreat Friday night by presenting the Lund Leadership Award to Brandi Petruzzelli. This will be an annual award to honor a woman of exemplary leadership. Nominations for the 2024 Lund Leadership Award on the BTG app or website. Alli Worthington challenged us with the topic of Breaking Busy and gave us practical tools to consider. The evening ended with extended time around the altars, followed by several outdoor activities, including a guided moonlit walk with ice luminaries, ice skating, a lakeside bonfire with s’mores, and a giant game of indoor bingo.
Saturday morning included ten workshops with options that encompassed ministry and marketplace topics. The morning main session included a hilarious Leadership Blooper Panel facilitated by Portia Allen and panelists Shannon Velsor, Pam Steinle, and Peggy Vagle. Alli Worthington went on to speak on the themes Fierce Faith and Standing Strong.
We announced a new name for the Retreat, which will now be known as the Bridging the Gap Leadership Conference. We believe women are influential leaders in their homes, families, friendships, workplaces, and churches. The BTG Leadership Conference is for every woman of every generation. This unique event encourages, equips, and empowers leaders from every professional and ministry area.
Looking ahead to 2024, Portia Allen will join us for the BTG Leadership Conference. Register now for February 9-10 at Lake Geneva Christian Center at mnbtg.org/leadership.
