The Minnesota District is celebrating the 115 credentialed candidates, both new and upgrading, who attended the Credentialing Seminar and interview days in early February at Celebration Church in Lakeville. It’s exciting to see a growing number of individuals responding to God’s call to ministry within the Assemblies of God fellowship.
To qualify for ministerial credentials, candidates must meet specific requirements that ensure they align with the fellowship’s values and standards. These include agreement with Scriptural teachings and the Assemblies of God’s 16 Fundamental Truths, a strong commitment to Christian beliefs and behavior, a dedication to serve as an effective Christian witness, and a willingness to uphold the principles of church ministry. Educational qualifications are also required to support each candidate’s calling.
This year’s group reflects a wide range of educational pathways. 45 candidates submitted transcripts from the Minnesota School of Ministry (MNSOM), 38 from North Central University, and others from various universities and ministry schools.
Among the people being celebrated at this April’s Celebration Service: Sophia Vagle will become a third-generation credentialed minister, following her father, Doug Vagle, and her grandfather, Wes Vagle. Bounsa Moua, who once belonged to Hmong gangs, is upgrading to Licensed Minister. And Andrew and Victoria Jergensen, co-lead pastors of Aitkin Assembly of God, will be ordained together.
All candidates complete a thorough vetting process that includes applications, background checks, examinations, and district interviews. The journey concludes at the Minnesota A/G District Council Celebration Service, where each candidate is presented and prayed over, marking their next step into ministry leadership.
