MDC 2025 | Communications Department
What an incredible year it has been for the Minnesota District! God’s guiding hand led us to new heights with significant milestones achieved in missions, events, church planting, and water baptisms. We are deeply grateful to the Lord for His faithfulness and for the blessings we’ve experienced this year!
On a national scale, 2025 has been a year of remarkable growth. Nationally, an astonishing 80% of all salvations within Assemblies of God churches occurred in churches planted within the last five years!
A powerful picture of this growth can be seen at Overflow Church in the North Loop of Minneapolis, led by Pastor Luke Chafin, which has quickly become a vibrant home for young adults since its launch on March 2nd. In just eight months, the church has celebrated an incredible 410 salvations and saw 75 people baptized at its very first baptism night—an event so impactful that the next one is expected to be just as large. The name “Overflow” has proven true as the church is already exceeding the capacity of its venue in a single service, reflecting the growing hunger and momentum within the community. Beyond Sundays, Overflow has given away $15,000 to other local churches, demonstrating its commitment to generosity and unity in the city. Some of the most powerful stories come from people who wandered in off the street on a Sunday morning, encountered Jesus, and are now thriving members of the church family—capturing the heartbeat of what Overflow is all about.
We are excited about all that God continues to do as He keeps building His church! To date, we have seen 9 new churches planted, with 3 more planned for this year or early 2026. Beyond that, 8 more church plants are in motion for 2026. The Kingdom of God is on the move, and lives and communities are being changed.
There is also much to celebrate when it comes to events! On September 23–25, 2025, more than 200 International Missions Leaders representing 78 nations gathered at Lake Geneva for the second Sender’s Summit. Their goal? To continue the journey of collaboration, cooperation, and renewed commitment to advance world evangelization. Only God knows the ultimate results for the nations, but the initial outcome was commitments for an additional 13,500 missionaries from the 78 nations represented.
Attendance at Youth and Kids camps broke an all-time record with 8,751 children, students, and leaders in attendance. The BTG Women’s Thrive Conference also saw a remarkable increase, with thousands of women gathered in unified worship, hundreds responding at the altars for salvation, and nearly 200 serving generously behind the scenes. The Men’s Advance also saw a record attendance of 1,341. Additionally, the Minnesota Youth Convention had nearly 4,800 participants, making it the largest convention to date. To God be the glory!
Another exciting area of growth is the increase in missionaries sent from Minnesota. In 2022, it was reported that the district had 158 Assembly of God missionaries. This year, that number has grown to 188.
Minnesota churches’ contributions to AG World Missions (AGWM) have increased from $8.3 million to $23 million over the last eight years, demonstrating remarkable growth in generosity and influence. Across AG ministries worldwide, someone comes to Christ every 17 seconds, and a new AG church is established every 68 minutes. What began with only a small number of congregations 111 years ago has expanded into a global fellowship of 465,000 churches, reflecting an extraordinary history of expansion and outreach.
