Campouts at The Woods | Lake Placid

It’s been a record-breaking year at The Woods in Pillager, Minnesota, with group reservations nearly every week, a building project, and dozens of volunteers pitching in during workdays! Two of the largest annual events at The Woods are the Girls and Boys Statewide Campouts.

Sponsored by the MN Royal Rangers and MN Girls Ministries, both campouts are open to all churches. They provide excellent opportunities for men and women to have fun, build skills, and dive deeper into discipleship/mentorship with the students they bring. There has also been an uptick in moms and dads who bring their sons and daughters to encourage their spiritual growth, and participate in the movement of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

The Holy Spirit does not disappoint! Not only did participants enjoy a wide range of unique activities, but 91 boys and 22 girls gave their lives to the Lord, 30 boys were baptized in the Holy Spirit, and 60 boys received the call to ministry!

Both groups also took steps of faith to provide incredible offerings during their events: over $7,000 from the boys to support the camp-building project and over $5,500 from the girls for missions!

Thank you to Pastor Sterling Steen, Ben Longest, and Pastor Hadessah Allove for bringing the Word and to all who attended, served, and provided the prayer support that allowed the Holy Spirit to move in the lives of so many during these events.

It is exciting to see progress toward a new addition and renovation providing five additional bunkrooms, four bathrooms with showers, and a large indoor meeting space. Named after one of the land donors of The Woods, the John Sullivan Discipleship Center will provide a broader range of opportunities for discipleship at this beautiful setting on the shores of Lake Placid. The project is nearly 60% funded, providing for the shell, sewer, and plumbing. To help complete this project or support camp operations, visit lakeplacid.camp/give.
