Minnesota District Continues to Grow in Missions | Mark Boone
The Minnesota District continues to demonstrate a deep passion for missions and celebrates the steady growth of its missionary family. In the October 2022 issue of MDC Monthly, it was reported that the district had 158 AGWM missionaries—93 Career Missionaries and 65 Missionary Associates (MAs). Today, that number has grown to 188 missionaries serving through MDC, including 106 fully appointed Career Missionaries and 82 MAs.
This increase represents an average of 10 new missionaries per year over the past three years—an impressive accomplishment given retirements and the completion of MA terms. The district celebrates this remarkable progress and gives thanks for God’s continued blessing on its missions efforts.
MDC recognizes the vital role of both Career Missionaries and Missionary Associates. Career Missionaries embody a lifelong commitment to God’s call, dedicating their lives to spreading the Gospel through long-term service. In contrast, MAs serve one- to two-year assignments—most commonly two years—during which they are fully engaged in ministry. MAs come from diverse backgrounds across Minnesota: young and old, single and married, veteran ministers and those new to ministry. Though they serve under the mentorship of Career Missionaries, they actively participate in ministry work alongside their teams.
While an MA’s financial budget is smaller than that of a Career Missionary, they still depend on monthly support from local churches. MAs are encouraged to build relationships within the district by participating in events and connecting with pastors and congregations they know. These relationships are essential, helping them become integrated into the MDC family and preparing them for future ministry opportunities.
Although MAs cannot directly reach out to churches or pastors with whom they do not already have a connection, churches are always welcome to contact them or request that an MA get in touch.
For more information or to connect with itinerating MAs, please contact the Minnesota District office or reach out to our District Missions Director, Mark Boone, at . The district extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who continue to support missions. Because of that faithful partnership, MDC can keep sending workers into the harvest.
